Psycho in C minor

Psycho has become an iconic movie for several very important reasons. The music in Psycho has paved the way for other horror movies to follow for years to come. Even today, we still see examples of the classic Psycho violin screech. If I was one of the lucky people to first see this I theaters, the show scene and staircase scene would have scared me to death. The cultivation of all the shots and scenes make this movie a classic, and the music is the cherry on top that brings it all together. There are many horror movies that use this kind of music in their films and it really adds to the horror of the film in extraordinary ways. One of my favorite examples is in the movie Insidious.

In this scene, we hear the violin which with out it wouldn't be as frighting. Other movies like Jaws also uses music based off of the Psycho classic. Music plays a very important role in film, especially in horror movies and thrillers. Without it, a scene might not be scary at all. The sound of unbalanced and screeching violin frightens us just as a distorted face does because we are not used to it. There is an interesting video that talks all about this which I would recommend to anyone to go watch. (A bit off topic)
