The use of certain camera positions is well used in this
film. Right from the start we have these great sweeping shots of the mountains,
providing a general setting for the movie while the opening credits roll. One
of the large reasons for people to go insane in the hotel is that it’s very cut
off from civilization, and these clips show it. Another great use of them is in
the hallways and the maze. When Danny is riding his bike down the hallways it
is always from behind him. This happens later on in the maze too. The camera
angle is behind and in front of Danny and Jack when they are in the chase.
These stranger uses of camera displays scenes in a very interesting way.
