The Shining: Madness
Many people have both criticized and praised The Shining. I for one have found it to be one of the best films I've ever seen. The Shining has received so much publicity not just about whether it was good or bad, but also conspiracies related to the film. If you can get that much of a response from one film, it was successful. Even negative publicity is still publicity. The film goes through the metal break down of Jack as he spends his time in the hotel. Kubrick has put so much detail into the film such as the colors being the similar throughout the film, the music adding a sinister mood, or just these little details that people have gone crazy over thinking of odd little conspiracy theories. A lot of the little details added like the pictures or the events in room 237 didn't make much sense. I think this was done on purpose to represent the madness going on in Jack's mind and in the hotel. If it made sense, he wouldn't be as crazy as he is portrayed in the film. Kubrick does such a great job bringing Jack's madness to life and that's what I believe makes this film so famous. It is a masterpiece of madness.
